Course adviser: Westbridge Language Centre, this is Nina speaking. How can I help?

Learner: Hello. I have enrolled on the Intermediate IELTS course, but my email seems to contain two different orientation schedules. Could I check the final details?

Course adviser: Of course. The first message said Tuesday at half past four, but that was the provisional plan. The orientation is now on Wednesday the eighteenth at quarter past five, so that is 5:15 p.m.

Learner: Wednesday at 5:15. Is it still in room B14?

Course adviser: No. Please ignore B14. Its presentation screen failed during testing, so the session has moved to C12 in the main teaching building. C12 is on the first floor, opposite the language laboratory.

Learner: Thanks. I also saw that the course handbook costs eighteen pounds. Do I pay that when I arrive?

Course adviser: Eighteen pounds is the public price. Enrolled learners pay twelve pounds. You can buy it at reception, but it is optional because the essential pages are also online.

Learner: Do I need to bring any test results?

Course adviser: Bring photo identification and, if you have one, a recent IELTS score report. Do not worry if you have never taken IELTS. Everyone will complete a short reading and listening check, then submit a brief writing sample and record answers to four familiar speaking questions.

Learner: Will that result decide whether I can stay on the course?

Course adviser: No. It is a diagnostic, not a pass-or-fail entrance test. It helps your teacher identify a useful starting point. Please arrive ten minutes early so reception can confirm your details.

Learner: Great. So I should arrive by 5:05 on Wednesday, go to C12, and bring identification.

Course adviser: Exactly. The session itself begins at 5:15. We look forward to seeing you.
