What to do⏱ 5–10 min
Objective
Spend 90 seconds on thesis + ideas before you write the introduction.
Steps
- Read the explanation and the weak vs improved example.
- Complete the short task in your own words (3–5 sentences unless stated).
Plan before you panic
⏱ ~6 min · WT2
Timer mindset: 90 seconds for: (1) rewrite question in your words, (2) thesis, (3) two body ideas.
Weak: Start writing introduction immediately.
Improved: Six-line plan: thesis | idea A + example | idea B + example | counter | conclusion note.
Reflection
- Use this prompt: “Should homework be abolished?” Spend only 90 seconds writing a plan (bullet points). Stop mid-sentence when time ends — that is OK.
Self-check
- You addressed only this one problem.
- You produced a new example, not copied text.
Common mistakes to avoid
- No plan because “I work better under pressure” (usually false in exams).
- Plans that are only translations of the question.
