Answer abstract questions with a definition + example.
Steps
- Read the explanation and the weak vs improved example.
- Complete the short task in your own words (3–5 sentences unless stated).
Abstract → concrete

Question: “What is success?”
Weak: “Success is important for everyone in society nowadays…”
Improved: “I’d define success as reaching a goal you set — for example, qualifying as a nurse if that was your aim.”
Reflection
- Answer in 3–4 sentences: “What makes a good neighbour?” Start with <strong>“I’d define…”</strong> or <strong>“For me…”</strong> + one example.
Self-check
- You addressed only this one problem.
- You produced a new example, not copied text.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Opening with a memorised essay introduction.
- Never giving an example in Part 3.
