Distinguish in one sentence what the course prioritises versus what it does not.

What This Course Is (and Is Not)

⏱ 4 min

Concept: This course is an introduction to academic writing as argument supported by evidence, using a portfolio-based sequence and four evaluation criteria (FOUR BASES). It is not IELTS or exam prep, grammar-only, or a mock timed-test environment.

Mechanism: You draft, receive feedback, and revise. The five patterns of development (Cause & Effect, Comparison, Exemplification, Argument, Descriptive) organise content; FOUR BASES (Unity, Support, Coherence, Sentence skills) guide revision.

Worked example: You write a comparison essay. Feedback flags weak Support. You add evidence and explanation, then resubmit. The course evaluates the revised version.

Analysis question: In one sentence, what does this course prioritise that an IELTS-focused course might not?
